Applications Are Now Open! (Deadline: September 22, 2023)
Are you interested in exploring a career in teaching?
The Teacher Cadet Programme (Officially called the Future Teachers of The Bahamas Programme) was started by the Ministry of Education in 1995 as a means to expose the brightest and best Bahamian students in grades 10 to 12 to the possibilities of a career in Bahamian Education. Over the past 25 years, over 400 teachers currently teaching in our schools have passed through the system. The programme is not a club. It is an educational programme designed to teach students the fundamentals of pedagogy so that they can make an informed decision about whether or not they wish to explore teaching as a career. The programme seeks to inspire, inform and engage students while exemplifying teaching at its best so that students understand through experience what good teaching is. During the first semester, students learn theory. During the second semester, they receive practical experience tutoring a child.
